Resource Letter: Quantum Chromodynamics
نویسندگان
چکیده
This Resource Letter provides a guide to the literature on Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), the relativistic quantum field theory of the strong interactions. Journal articles, books, and other documents are cited for the following topics: quarks and color, the parton model, Yang-Mills theory, experimental evidence for color, QCD as a color gauge theory, asymptotic freedom, QCD for heavy hadrons, QCD on the lattice, the QCD vacuum, pictures of quark confinement, early and modern applications of perturbative QCD, the determination of the strong coupling and quark masses, QCD and the hadron spectrum, hadron decays, the quark-gluon plasma, the strong nuclear interaction, and QCD’s role in nuclear physics. The letter E after an item indicates elementary level or material of general interest to persons becoming informed in the field. The letter I, for intermediate level, indicates material of a somewhat more specialized nature, and the letter A indicates rather specialized or advanced material.

Resource Letter: The Standard Model and Beyond
This Resource Letter provides a guide to literature on the Standard Model of elementary particles and possible extensions. In the successful theory of quarks and leptons and their interactions, important questions remain, such as the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, the origin of quark and lepton masses, the source of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, and the makeup of its matter...
متن کاملResource Letter SPE-1: Single-Photon Experiments in the Undergraduate Laboratory
This Resource Letter lists undergraduate-laboratory adaptations of landmark optical experiments on the fundamentals of quantum physics. Journal articles and websites give technical details of the adaptations, which offer students unique hands-on access to testing fundamental concepts and predictions of quantum mechanics. A selection of the original research articles that led to the implementati...
متن کاملInclusive Hadronic Distributions inside One Jet at High Energy Colliders at “modified Leading Logarithmic Approximation” of Quantum Chromodynamics
After demonstrating their general expressions valid at all x, double differential 1-particle inclusive distributions inside a quark and a gluon jet produced in a hard process, together with the inclusive k⊥ distributions, are calculated at small x in the Modified Leading Logarithmic Approximation (MLLA), as functions of the transverse momentum k⊥ of the outgoing hadron. Results are compared wit...
متن کاملReduced Nuclear Amplitudes in Quantum Chromodynamics
We present a new formalism which systematically accounts for nucleon compositeness in nuclear scattering amplitudes, consistent-with quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and covariance. Reduced gauge-invariant nuclear amplitudes are defined which have elementary QCD scaling properties. The procedure is applied to the photodisintegration and electrodisintegration of the deuteron as a test of nuclear chr...
متن کاملAccelerating Quantum Chromodynamics Calculations with GPUs
We present a CUDA C implementation of the Conjugate Gradient (CG) and multi-mass CG solver from the MILC quantum chromodynamics package to speedup improved staggered quarks computations on NVIDIA GPUs. The implementation is built on the QUDA package from Boston University. Keywordsquantum chromodynamics; MILC; GPU
